What framework for the development of a competitive and sustainable European EV battery industry?

Recycling of EV batteries? Sustainability criteria for EV batteries? Within the framework of the join initiative Platform for Electro Mobility, RECHARGE invites you to join the discussion on “What framework for the development of a competitive and sustainable European EV battery industry?” on 7 January 2021 from 9:30 to 11:30 (CET).

By 2050, estimations put total EU demand at 1500 GWh. The EU is set to become the second producer of lithium-ion batteries globally, after China. Apart from the clear economic benefits from developing the EU’s competitiveness in the sector, the growth in the value chain will also play a major role in decarbonising the European transport sector and help decentralise the provision of energy. For the sustainable development of the sector, circular economy and sustainability of EV batteries have a pivotal role to play.

In the context of the European Green Deal, the Commission revised its current framework for batteries and published a proposal for a Batteries Regulation.

This virtual event will address complex issues such as recycling and 2nd life as well as issues related to the sustainability of raw materials used in EV batteries. To register for this interesting event, please click here.
