On 10 December 2020, the European Commission published a proposal for a Batteries Regulation with the aim of paving the way for sustainable batteries for a circular and climate neutral economy. Paramount for the further development of the European battery value chain, the Commission proposal introduced carbon intensity and due diligence measures as new key sustainability pillars to accelerate the transition to low-carbon and responsible products. Regulated design, conditions for second life and the right to repair are among the other novelties in the EU’s legislative response to the European vision of “batteries made in Europe”.
In this virtual event organized by RECHARGE and BATTERY 2030+, research and industry experts will elaborate on the potential of the proposed Batteries Regulation for product development, innovation and the EU’s chances of success in the race for next-generation battery technology.
